That looks like a decent amount. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Unfortunately, no it is not enough to buy what I am looking for. I want a car under 100K in miles. Everything available under 100K miles is in the neighborhood of $7,000 and up. I am setting this criteria because I want a better car this go around, one that is in better condition and without big problems like oil and coolant leaks and in imminent danger of the engine blowing up.

Sorry you didn't find what you wanted. At least you know what you need to save.

I wonder which makes and models of vehicles make your preferred list. In hopes of being helpful, I suggest reviewing the back section of Lemon Aid, usually available at the library. They list common issues with makes & models. If those issues have been addressed they reduce the risk level of higher mileage vehicles.

As far as makes of vehicles, Hondas are definitely on the top of my list. However, all cars, no matter the make or model, eventually have problems with the engine, trasmission, etc. It just happens with age and nothing can prevent it.

As far as why I am not yet finding something to meet my needs, I entirely blame the Car for Clunkers problem. When people traded those cars in and bought new cars, the old ones were right away sent to the crusher no matter whether they were in good condition or not.

Sorry, I meant Cash for Clunkers.
