52 Week Challenge Progress

January 7th, 2014 at 02:39 pm

Well, this has turned out to be a lot of fun watching the money just roll in and go out to be paid on my credit cards, medical bill, and to savings. Here is my progress since my last update.

I have noticed that since it is a savings game, most people are putting their money into savings, but I need to pay off debt more, so that is why I am putting much of mine into that.

Previous Balance: $139.91

$20.00 survey payment - paid to credit card #2
$50.00 regular credit card payment - paid to credit card #1
$30.00 regular payment to an outstanding medical bill
$80.00 regular deposit to car and house savings accounts

Total as of 1/7/2014: $319.91

Woo-hoo! I love this game!

Around the end of the month, I expect to get a check for $50 for survey participation. And a little after that, I will get a rebate check from mrrebates.

The 52 Week Challenge is actually a savings goal of $1378, by saving $1 on week one, $2 week two...all the way to $52 in the last week of the year. I think the initial idea out on the web was to save for an emergency fund.

I'm actually just saving $57 twice a month to get to the goal. I figure it doesn't hurt to save a little more cash!

You progress is great. You are taking money you are finding to meet your goals! Awesome.

Yes, I know that the way the challenge was originally designed, you are supposed to save $1 in week 1, etc., but I can't save much money if I keep having to pay money to the credit card companies. Also, my ability to save varies depending on if I got a survey check or whatever. I printed off the challenge sheet and every time I pay something, I "X" a box at the bottom matching the dollar amount or the closest number available and total up my balance.
